Melbourne Esports Open 2021 Event Update

Published on Jul 7, 2021

The ESL Australia & TEG Live teams behind the Melbourne Esports Open have been hard at work figuring out how we could bring back Australia’s biggest celebration of esports this year. After a tumultuous twelve months, we have the unfortunate news to share that MEO 2021 can not take place, and we will be refunding all existing ticket holders to the event. For more details on the ticket refund process, please check your inbox for an email from Ticketek.

“Putting on an event the size of the Melbourne Esports Open requires months of careful planning and a level of certainty for our partners, suppliers, and fans, that the event will go ahead as planned. Unfortunately given the proximity of the event combined with the uncertain period ahead whilst Australia still grapples with the global pandemic, we have made the tough decision to not host the Melbourne Esports Open in 2021, and instead focus our efforts on planning for future events.” said Brad Baldwin, Senior Project Manager, Special Events at ESL Australia. “We appreciate that this news is disappointing for MEO fans, but look forward to the opportunity to bring back the event on an even larger scale in 2022. In the meantime, stay safe and look after each other.”

Further updates on the event will be shared on official @MelbEsportsOpen social media.
