WHAT’S HAPPENING AT THE MELBOURNE ESPORTS OPEN THIS YEAR

The Melbourne Esports Open isn’t just about the best gamers in the country playing on Australia’s biggest stages. This August 31 -September 1, we’re filling up Melbourne & Olympic Parks with some of the coolest games, tournaments and activities you can find, so that you can have an awesome weekend at Australasia’s biggest festival of esports & gaming.

The best bit? Everything below is free to those who already have a ticket to the Melbourne Esports Open – so read on to see what’s on at #MEO2019, and remember to check back weekly – we’ve got much more to come!

FORTNITE AT MEO

Join the action with open Fortnite competitions held on the Fortnite stage in Margaret Court Arena. Anyone with a ticket to the Melbourne Esports Open can compete – simply pick up your ticket today and stay tuned for more information on how the registration process for open tournaments will work.

As well as open tournaments, you can play in the Fortnite Free-Play Field in the JB Hi-Fi Game On Zone, and take part in dance competitions, with prizes up for grabs for the best performance.

COSPLAY

Spot your favourite in-game character at MEO this year, or come dressed up as them! With cosplay activities running throughout the weekend, and opportunities for your cosplay to be photographed professionally, you don’t want to miss the cosplay action at #MEO2019.

MERCH

With more merchandise than ever before, the official merchandise stand at MEO this year will feature new limited edition MEO streetwear hoodies, official CS:GO pins, official Ubisoft merchandise & all of your favourite pro team gear. Get in early, opposite door 18 on the Rod Laver Arena concourse.

MEET & GREETS

This year, we’re putting some of Australia’s top video game streamers & content creators front & centre, and teaming up with groups like The Misfits to host signing sessions & meetups across the MEO weekend. Ask your favourite streamer or YouTuber if they’re coming down to MEO and they probably are already, with over 30 of our Mates-Of-MEO confirmed already.

JB HI-FI GAME ON ZONE

Get your hands on the latest releases in gaming before everyone else, and spend your weekend in the JB Hi-Fi Game On Zone playing the latest & greatest AAA titles. It doesn’t matter if you’re a console, PC, or mobile gamer – the JB Hi-Fi Game On Zone will have you covered. Plus, the Game On Zone will feature a pop-up JB Hi-Fi store, with some great deals exclusively for MEO ticket holders.

FIGHTING GAMES

If you’re a couch warrior, you can look forward to competitions featuring 2019’s hottest fighting games (with some classics thrown in as well) in Melbourne Arena. We’ve brought our mates the Couch Warriors (Australia’s biggest Fighting Games Community) back on board to run what was a real “Smash-Hit” at MEO last year. Stay tuned for more info on what games will be featured.

THE MONSTER

Australia’s biggest inflatable obstacle course is coming to Melbourne Esports Open! The Monster is over 270 meters and has over 30 obstacles to bash and crash through! There are obstacles lurking around every corner, including hoops, tunnels, pillars and much more. On average it can take between 10-20 minutes to complete. A level 99 Agility is recommended to take this beast head on.

PLAY! POKÉMON MELBOURNE OPEN

The Play! Pokémon Melbourne Open is an officially sanctioned #PlayPokémon Special Event, being held during the Melbourne Esports Open, August 31st-September 1st 2019.

META HIGH SCHOOL ESPORTS

At MEO 2019, Melbourne Arena will host the return of the HSEL Championship Grand Finals for League of Legends, Rocket League and NBA 2K19! Over 300 teams from more than 150 schools will compete between June to August for their chance to play on a dedicated arena stage with YOU cheering them on!
